Shaffner's Round Table

Civil rights and corruption are about the same thing as it was in the past, but now it really doesn’t matter unless you have money. Money has taken control over everything. For example, In the movie Food Inc., a 2009 food documentary film, talks about how our food is a prime example of this…

Your title, “My thoughts on The Secret Truth behind Civil Rights,” led me to believe that you would reveal that truth. You didn’t so much reveal it as hint at it. I think you are saying that civil rights get suppressed because big, private money (corporations, etc.) are in control of the government and the media. Because of this control, big money can decide how lawmakers do their job, how the media reports it, and how the police (who are controlled by the gov’t) will treat protesters. You ask in your essay, “Why does our government work so hard against us all we want is change, is that so hard to ask for?” Change is often hard to ask for and even harder to do. There are those who benefit from the way things are, and they will fight to keep things as they are for that reason. There are others who are suffering from the way things are, and they will fight just as hard to change things. The difference is those who are currently benefiting have alot more resources to bring to the fight. When I say fight, I don’t just mean literal violence. Words are also powerful weapons in this fight, which is way those that want change want their voice to be heard.
